I did it, you guys, I made it to Minneinapolis!
I saw the cutest craft that was a calico fabric cactus in a little tiny clay pot. It was so cute! But then I thought it would seem really lazy that I couldn't even handle caring for a cactus.
I committed the sin of having books in my luggage.
I am in Miami! Soon we will take the plane to Minneapolis where Eric will come get me!
I hope Jill Bernard got home safe.
I am in Miami waiting for the flight to Minneapolis!

Boarding for Miami.
Waiting at Santiago for the Miami flight. All looks good excwpt I cant connect to the Dunkin Donuts wifi!
Onthe plane for Lima to Santiago.
Ok I am goimjg to create this one status and put travel updates on it for the next 22 hours.
There was already mechanical trouble on the first plane, I think that will be the one thing that goes wrong. This is th 24 hour mark, in 24 hours I will be home!
The real one is función but I couldn't find the o with an accent on the hostel's keyboard. Espectáculo is probably overkill for my 50 minutes of beginner Spanish improvised musical.
Fuck yeah
Where to start a conversation? In a separate thread. You have great questions about this festival but if you can't phrase them respectfully, you are being a dick and discouraging this person from participating in further discussions.
In Lima. Playing it cool.

QUEI!!? Feña, es claro che Argentina es mejor nel mundo en Tecnología Vegetal.
I am terrible at everything listed therein but thanks for thinking of me.
Also I had some colonial paella.
I will need to cook it. I thought maybe it was a fruit. I think I will wait until a time when there's no one in the kitchen so I can investigate with impunity.
In Argentina the zucchinis are round! Es un zapatillo. Whoaa!!
Cordoba es la ciudad y la provincia.

I chickened out and taught in English with Gustavo on the translation, it went really well!
Everyone thinks I am smiley and I laugh a lot, that's a pretty good rep.
Lynne Shotola I am asking if I can do things so often I must seem really insecure.

I wish all the little stray dogs here in Cordoba Argentina were also guides. so you could say, "Perdón Señor Perro, donde esta X?" and he would take you there.
Remember when "La Bamba" came out and we all thought 'Oh, I better learn the words to this song in case I'm at a sing-a-long in a South American hostel when I'm 40'?

Por favor dame el link de la pagina SI. Gracias
The Columbians have taught me a names exercise where you hug and then look in the eyes and say their name. You hug everyone and then get in a circle and quiz the students Camprov style.
Goodbye goodbye! I will come visit vosotros in Sangiago but hopefully not next Saturday.
My audience interview subject was a graduate of University of Minnesota. A fellow Gopher! Because life is funny.

Hmm, all the embassy email addresses have bounced. Does anyone feel like calling a Chilean consulate for me and asking if I have to pay a reciprocity tax if I am only passing through the airport to another country?
I emailed you, thanks Monica!
Look at their blank blank faces. Man, I am good at speaking Spanish.
This is the Chilean one. I paid the Argentina one. Please check my hero Ally!!!
Hmm, all the embassy email addresses have bounced. Does anyone feel like calling a Chilean consulate for me and asking if I have to pay a reciprocity tax if I am only passing through the airport to another country?
You guys. It went Muy Bueno in an adorable way, like some handicapped kitten that you can't help but cheer for . And the musician was amazing. What a rush.
I have emailed the Chilean embassy in New York and here in Cordoba. We will see what they say. Everyone here from Chile wants me to go there, it would be fun!

You guys. It turns out everything in Spanish rhymes. YAY! Ganoooooooo!!! Gooooooool!!!!!
Oh I don't have a translator, Unky Rob. I shall rely on my Beginner Level 3 Spanish and mime. Eek!
Tonight it seems I have agreed to do an hour-long Drum Machine in Spanish. Buen Provecho!
I am in Cordoba! At the hostel! I don't really get what is going on but I am here.
APRIL 4
I am on the plane.
Yes I need somene to check for me, do we have any airline friends?
Do I have to pay the Chile reciprocity tax to fly *through* Chile on the way home? Probably not because you don't exit the airport. I am real twitchy now.
The cab radio on the way back to the airport played both "Baby Come Back" and some Bee Gees. Were you possessing the radio?
Lo siento....

Feña Ortalli No, come to Cordoba! Next trip I will come to Buenos Aires, Argentina is too much for one trip only
I am not normally five hours for a flight but, you know, sometimes. Here I am through security, though customs, hanging out. No bigs.
Ok well not quite in the air, more like towards her face.
Yeah, Michael, I wrote to Lonely Planet to update their guidebook on that one, you can do it on the internet and print it out from the comfort of your own home. Tonight the woman checking me in turned to ask her colleague if the reciprocity tax was only for Buenos Aires. I overheard her and held the paper in the air like John Cusak with the boombox.
Near that park you can just jump off the cliff on a parachute and you're just sitting there in a chair in the sky.
Ah James, the woman at the LAN counter made it seem possible. I should've listened to the First Lady. Oh well. Lesson learned.
I have been staying calm by singing the chorus of El Presente to myself. "El presente es lo único que tengo/El presente es lo único que hay" The present is the only one I have/The present is the only one there is...
I had a nice day in Lima. I went to the Museum of the Inquisition to add some perspective, Plaza Mayor and Miraflores. It was all very lovely. Now I am going to go be in the airport after I squat in this hotel business center some more.
Summary!! I missed my flight because I didn{t know you have to pay the reciprocity tax before you enter Argentina, and the time it took to pay it in Peru was so long I missed my flight. Then I was on standby and that turned out to be a huge mistake, there were no seats. I tried to quick buy another ticket on a later flight through Santiago but I don{t have enough money. So Eric bought me a ticket on the internet so I can leave tonight.
No that}s a joke Shoto
No tonight I am going to Argentina. I understand the mistake now. The Lima airport is on Argentina Av.
Where the hell is the apostrophe? Also there{s an ñ key. ñññññÑÑññ
Peru! I can{t stay mad at you, you have a park dedicated to love. Lets be friends. I dont want to move in though. Please let me go tonight. http://www.mirafloresperu.com/

I have been wondering these last days if we have little breaker boxes inside us, and sometimes the breakers get tripped, and it is just that easy to flip them back. Flip the switch. It is a thought I am having, anyway.
Bryan, this hotel is attached to the airport! That's why it is expensive!
Everything is okay now, I am on a flight late tonight. Thanks!
I know a few people in Lima. Can you write quick details of what happened and maybe I can contact them to see if they can help?
I mean Costa Del Sol Peru. It is a Ramada!
Little mistakes I made that well, I bet other people have made. It is all right. Thank you for your help. Have you tried the Señor Maíz? It is delicious.
Yes it is the Costa Del Peru. My flight is 23:50, so I have to be there 20:50. I would be find by myself, I think I will go to the Chocolate Museum! Or something. Lindsey wrote to some peeps.
The best thing about my situation is I get to say "desde ayer" a lot, which is one of my favorite phrases and a hit song I have been working on.
APRIL 4
Oh man, I made so many international phone calls on that guy's line to not have bought a plane ticket in the end. What a hero that guy was and Jose Angel who brought me over there. Most people here are amazingly kind and really want to help.
Estevan J. Chuy Zarate bits are a GO! I think I am feeling less hysterical now that there is a plan.
And yes, I am on the carpark side you've read so much about in the TripAdvisor reviews.
Oh, Noah, I am in a hotel, it is okay.
Guys. I had to press the elevator button in the lobby myself. The service in this hotel has really gone downhill.
APRIL 4
My favorite part of last night in the arrival hall is we're all trying to sleep and some American with fluent Spanish but a terrible accent starts chatting up some guys really loud. I had to move away, I did not want to engage him and could not sleep around him, Today's highlight was a little girl asking me all about my Kindle. No one has ever said, "No entiendo" more sincerely. I thought she lept ahead in her Kindle knowledge when she asked me if it had fuego, but upon further investigation she was asking if it had juegos.
Everything is okay. Heiberg bought me a ticket for tomorrow. I have some money. Thanks for efforts.
Still trapped in Peru! I am coming! I am coming!!
Did I mention DESAYUNO GRATIS? I bet I could eat $300 worth of fruit.
I wish you guys could see the romance when couples make a little place for themselves in the sad hall.
Really? Because in the arrival hall of sorrow you get your choice of seats to sleep on. You guys aren{t thnking this through. Sometimes there are nuns!
Who thinks I should spend the night at the expensive airport hotel and who thinks I should sleep in the arrival hall of sorrow? Vote H for hotel and S for arrival hall of sorrow.
Scoop scoop! }
Oh, Jill! I wish I could scoop you up and fix it all!
When I come home, can I have a fundraiser workshop for myself called Peru Ate My Soles? That is a money joke that relies on your knowledge of Peruvian money. But this is not a joke, really can I? This is a bad place to be right after you accidentally double paid your taxes and bought bus ads for some stupid reason.
Eric bought me a ticket for tomorrow. If only I had listend to the first lady!
Eric bought me a plane ticket for the same stupid one flight one more day later. I feel great - having an end in sight is fantastic
I will say this. The Spanish intensive I was planning to take could not possibly be as incredible as the one I am taking now: Speak Spanish if you want to get out of Peru. My speaking ability has skyrocketed in just two long days. Plenty of people have spoken at least some English, though. That has been helpful.
I want you to know that although I have zero answers to how to get you out of where you are, I am watching and waiting intently to find out how you get to where you need to go. I have never been out of the country, so I have nothing to offer except to say good luck and if there is anything you need done here, I am available!
Hey gang, hold off on the bits until I am out of trouble, thanks.
Does anyone I know know anyone at all in Lima, Peru? My friendJill Bernard is stuck there.
Will Luera Yes I need a friend, a place to stay, etc. I am on a flight tomorrow night.
Ha ha, I almost went to Santiago but I did not have enough money and my card got declined on both counts.
Will Luera I need the help of the Lima people. I am in the lobby of the Ramada Airport. There is no way to really reach me except by Facebook I guess.
I spent all that time writing workshop descriptions in Spanish!
Ha! That is the same flight that I stood by on today. I just feel like a big idiot.
I did not make the standby. Stuck in Peru. Time to get zen. I was supposed to teach Fireball Theory today but I cannot get there.
At 10:30 I should know if am hosed / Bt we hope for the best!
Jill - for 200 dollars i can get you a bus ride
Well it will be a day no matter what.
Josh what bus how?
I don't know. I should wait for standby. but it is good to know there might be seats.
LAN is the airline
Yes Lima
can someone check if tomorrow 12:25am LAN 637 to Santiago and 2:10pm LAN 942 connecting to Cordoba are really sold out?
Everyone thinks standby is the best and we all have a billion fingers crossed.
I was never supposed to be here to begin with. xthe backup plan fell through. I'm just sitting here crying. Standby at 11:50 is the only hope.
The backup plan fell through. I was so cheered by the back up plan. Now all my hopes are pinned on standby at 11:50 again. This is the worst. The minute I left that beautiful airport Ramada everything went back to despair. Stuck in Peru.
Will Luera tells me there coincidentally is an improv festival in Lima right now. Ha!
i am trying to go to Argentina.
No, I've been trapped here for a day.
Chico is on the phone with Orbitz concocting Escape From Peru Crazy Back Up Plan 2013.
No, they sent me outside to buy tickets. It was terrible.
I could run to the VIP lounge and buy the tickets. Is there a website where you can put them on hold and then click go in one go? Does Orbitz have that?
Well I could buy a ticket for $1000 from Lima to Santiago to Cordoba but I don't know how I would buy the tickets - the flight is at 12:25AM - I would find out I didn't make the other flight at 11:40. Chico Carlucci anyone any smart ideas? Cheap Air will be closed at that hour or else I would just do that. The airport ticketing office is outside the security and slow.
I slept for a while. I'm so anxious.
Peru.
OK I guess I'm almost ready to joke. I won't get to appear in my silver Lady Liberty wrestling costume in the show tonight. That's not the saddest part now but later it will be.
Thanks Will.
I have sprung for the fancy expensive hotel because I don't want to leave the airport even though I bet Lima is amazing.
You guys! Thanks for your advice. I have sprung for the fancy expensive hotel because I don't want to leave the airport even though I bet Lima is amazing.
Adding more airports just seems like multiplying the problem, right? The LAN agent thought stand-by was the way to go. But if it doesn't work I am here another day. I suppose if I miss the whole festival worse things have happened. I hate when you make a stupid mistake and the reprocussions are oversized.
I don't need jokes, I need advice, I'm tired and scared.
Flying stand-by tonight on the one flight to Cordoba rather than buyin a new ticket to go Lima/Santiago/Buenos Aires/Cordoba. That's the smarter option, right? Help me think, I'm in way over my Beginner Level 3 Spanish here.
